    Cops want masks outlawed

With the dust not entirely settled from the latest annual bottle-throwing, fireworks-shooting protest targeting his forces, a top cop yesterday used the opportunity to try to revive a Montreal police campaign to outlaw masks.

A similar effort petered out last year, following objections by civil-liberties groups.

“If people were wearing masks, it was to hide their identities – possibly because they wanted to commit offences,” Chief Insp. Sylvain Lemay told rue.frontenac.

No copyright and/or patent reform for you, American citizens!

Obama made the remarks in a speech at the Export-Import Bank's annual conference in Washington.

A leading Japanese politician espouses a 9/11 fantasy

"YUKIHISA FUJITA is an influential member of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan. As chief of the DPJ's international department and head of the Research Committee on Foreign Affairs in the upper house of Japan's parliament, to which he was elected in 2007, he is a Brahmin in the foreign policy establishment of Washington's most important East Asian ally. He also seems to think that America's rendering of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, is a gigantic hoax.
